When Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Khon Kaen (BCNKK) was initially established 8th February 1962, it offered an undergraduate program of nursing and midwifery.  Many years later, in 1997, BCNKK introduced the four-year Bachelor of Nursing program.  Subsequently, BCNKK and various other nursing colleges under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Public Health received the greatest honour from "Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajonani: Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother" granting the name "Boromarajonani College of Nursing", followed by the name of the subsequent provinces to all respective colleges. Since 1997, the Princess Mother's abbreviation name "สว" (Sor Wor) has been adopted as the symbol of BCNKK and other related nursing colleges.

In 1998, the collage began its affiliation with the Faculty of Nursing, KhonKaen University and was able to offer a Bachelor of Nursing Science qualification.

In 2000 – 2006, BCNKK enabled a continuation program to complete the extra two-years required for a full Bachelor of Nursing qualification

BCNKK continues to offer the Bachelor of Nursing Science program as well as a range of shorter academic courses for health professionals and volunteers.
